The UPS Presents Have Landed

The UPS guy finally showed up at 7:30 last night, and when he did?  I’m tellin’ ya, it was like CHRISTMAS at Heardmont!

Of course our doorbell rang right as we were sitting down to dinner, so Mr. Heard made us wait until we were done eating before we opened our packages.  I think we both ate faster than usual last night!

I might have mentioned that my packages would be bathroom and/or closet related.  As soon as I’d decided on our yellow and gray color scheme, I hopped online and ordered two items I’d had my eye on for awhile.  First up, these awesome towels from World Market.

I’d seen these babies in person and loved them on our trip to Kansas City, and my only regret is that I didn’t buy them in the store.  When I got home and got ready to order them, there were only 2 bath towels in stock.

We ended up getting 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels (we don’t use washcloths), and I think I’ll pick up a couple more solid white or yellow bath towels to have around as extras. The plus side of this solution is that I can find solid colored towels anywhere!

The second item I ordered was this shower curtain from West Elm.

As soon as I took it out of the box, my heart fell.  It definitely didn’t look as yellow as the photo I’d seen online…

Sure enough, when I put the shower curtain next to our new towels, the difference was obvious.  Needless to say, the shower curtain will be getting returned, and we’ll be finding a replacement!  Anybody have any white + yellow shower curtain suggestions for me?

Once I had my yellow towels as a color guide, I got to work transforming this hat box (from our Hobby Lobby storage shopping extravaganza) into a fun accent piece.  If you were wondering how this natural-colored hat box was going to fit into our gray and yellow color scheme, here’s your answer.

One coat of primer + two coats of yellow later….

And it became a great place to store… what else?  HATS!  🙂

You might also have been wondering what I was going to do with the larger of the two houndstooth trays I got at HobLob.

Turns out it was the perfect size to hold our new towels!  We don’t have any linen storage in our bathroom, but that’s ok because we have more than enough room in our walk-in closet.  These babies will be living in front of our new gray stripes, and I think they are going to look FAB!

Ohhh friends, we are getting so close to the big closet reveal!  Are you excited? Nervous?  Sick of hearing about our closet already? 🙂

Don’t worry, it’s coming soon!

But before I go, the most observant of you might have noticed there were 3 boxes from Mr. UPS in that first photo, but I only showed you two purchases.  That’s because one of the boxes was for Stephen.  Can you guess what it was?

Drumroll please

A new computer!

That’s right everybody, Mr. Heard is now the proud owner of a MacBook Air.  After several years of sharing my MacBook, we are officially a two computer family.

I think Stephen might have won the “who got the coolest (Christmas) UPS present” game this time around. 🙂

And with that, I wish you a wonderful weekend!  The plan is to share the finished closet on Monday, so be sure to come back and check it out!  Oh, and if you “don’t wanna miss a thing” (channeling Aerosmith here), you can become a follower by clicking the button at the top of the right hand column of this site.  Thanks!
