Thrift Store Score

On a whim, I stopped into one of my favorite thrift stores this week.  Lately I’ve been paying more attention to vintage furniture than anything else, but I’ve noticed the furniture prices at this particular store have been going up and up.

I think I was having mid-century modern chair withdrawal because earlier that day I’d just BARELY missed a mint-condition mid-mod green upholstered chair on Craigslist for $10.  TEN DOLLARS, people!  Ugh I kicked myself all day for that one!  But I digress…

The furniture section was a bust, so I wandered over to the home decor area.  It must have been my lucky day cause look what I got.

The grand total for this score?  $3.50!!

This little wooden M was only 50 cents.  I may decide paint it, but for now I think the pink will look great with my craft room drapes.

Picked up these Christmas ornaments (and promptly packed them away) for 50 cents too!

This was one of my favorite finds.  A mini black metal file for $1.50.  I have a feeling our recipes will get much more organized thanks to this bad boy!

If you’re keeping track, you know at this point my tab was up to $2.50.  That means the last two items were real bargains!

First, this white lamp for 50 cents.  Sure the wiring was a little wonky (can you say project?), but a LAMP for less than a DOLLAR?  Sign me up!

Last, this vintage wallpaper (another 50 cent steal) was just so cute.  I think it will be perfect for wrapping gifts when springtime rolls around.

So that’s what I got for less than the cost of a Happy Meal.  I’m glad I took a couple minutes to pay attention to knick-knacks instead of furniture for once.

Have you ever noticed when thrifting that you rarely end up leaving with what you went in for?  It happens to me all. the. time. But I’m not complaining! 🙂
