Nursery Additions

We found a rug for the nursery! After considering this one from Rugs USA and being bummed that this one was on backorder, we ended up purchasing two rugs and trying them out in the room before making a final decision. The first was a TJ Maxx find – tan with an ivory design – but it just wasn’t as fluffy as we wanted.

The second was this rug from Lowe’s, and it fit all our requirements: affordable, super soft and fluffy, fit the color scheme of the room, and (bonus) is pretty close to the color of our yellow lab, Molly (hey, I’m just being realistic here!).

One other addition to the dresser area is the diaper pail we received at my last baby shower. Hopefully this one will keep the baby smells to a minimum!

On the other side of the room we added that cord cover I mentioned for the baby monitor. It was such an easy fix and means no more cords dangling too close to the crib.

We made one final addition to the reading corner as well. The hollowed-out guitar now hanging on the wall has a long history here at Heardmont.

Reading Corner

Years and years ago, when Stephen and I first started dating, he wrote some of his first love songs for me on that guitar. Sadly, one night he accidentally stepped on it and smashed in the front, but the body was left intact.

We couldn’t bear to part with it, so that guitar was packed up and was taking up room in a closet when Stephen had the bright idea to turn it into a shelf for Libby’s room! We might add actual shelves and/or paint the inside down the line, but for now we’re loving how much “history of us” this piece adds to the room.

After our Nursery Reveal, I realized I forgot to share the before picture of this room with you. Remember when the nursery was Stephen’s office?

And here’s how the room looks today! You’ve come a long way, baby…
