Happy Monday everybody! We’re doing things a little bit differently here at Heardmont this week, but I think you’ll enjoy the change. You’ll be hearing from six of the most creative and interesting ladies in blogland from every corner of the globe.
Today our fabulous guest is Michelle from the blog Jarrah Jungle. She and her main man Pete have been renovating their home in Western Australia and it’s looking awesome! Michelle’s posts are always a fun read, and I can’t help but love her fun Aussie sayings. Lucky you guys, you get to hear a bunch of them today! Without further ado, here’s Michelle.

Hi fellow bloggers, I’m Michelle from Jarrah Jungle and I’m stoked that Meredith has asked me to do a guest post for her while she’s holidaying it up. As Meredith and I are practically on the opposite ends of the world – USA and Australia – I thought a post about my tried and tested places to visit in Western Australia might entice some of you to come down under for a visit. Oprah herself didn’t quite make it to WA amidst her Ultimate Australian Adventure so its up to me to become a tourist in my own town … go grab yourself a cuppa and come along for the ride!
Would you believe that WA is actually the largest State in Australia – it covers nearly one third of the entire Australian continent. I’m talking from North to South 12500 km (or 7813 miles) of coastline. Up North you will see vast land and desert, wild kangaroos and emus crossing the roads and endless hot sunny days and a black night sky filled with too many stars to count. Down South you have caves to explore, wineries to visit for tastings, beaches that continue to bring the best surfers in the world and forests filled with wildlife and the freshest air. So here are my top 4 places to visit, I’ve kept it to 4 as I tend to babble on a bit and I don’t want to take up too much of your time!
The view from Kings Park is incredible especially at night time when the city lights up. Hire a limousine for an hour, have them drive you up to Kings Park at night, sit back in luxury with a glass of champagne in hand and drink in the sights of our beautiful city.
The Swan Valley region is the place to head for fine food and endless vineyards. Book yourself onto a full day wine cruise, be ferried up the iconic Swan River while enjoying wine tastings and nibbles as the Captain gives you a commentary full of history and humour, visit a few wineries for lunch and tastings and then more wine tastings on the ferry ride back (ok so maybe swap the wine for water by then!)
Up North, Broome’s contrast of crystal clear blue water on Cable Beach and the red dirt roads make this town a real outback experience. The dry heat gives you a golden tan without even trying to sun bake. You can drive your 4×4 right onto the beach and drive along the shoreline or, if you’re feeling adventurous, go on a camel train tour. Of course you can’t leave without buying yourself some unique shell or pearl jewelry … because you’re worth it!
Head Down South to Margaret River and enjoy the laid back lifestyle of this country vibe surf town. Start with breakfast at the bakery in town then take a drive through the Forrest admiring the huge Karri Trees, venture into a cave to cool off, have fish and chips for lunch on the beach watching the surfers ride the waves that bring the pros here each year. By afternoon head to the chocolate factory for some free tastings and then finish your day with dinner and a bottle of WA’s finest wines at one of the tantalizing vineyards.
So that my friends is my best bits of WA, tried and tested by yours truly. I hope I’ve got you just a little bit intrigued about the land down under, and yes fellow Aussies that includes you too, come on over to Perth for a visit!
Thanks again Meredith and followers for having me … now I feel like planning a bit of a road trip! How about you?
