Celebrating Summer

The last days of summer are officially here and we spent our holiday weekend celebrating them.  On Friday, Stephen and I took Molly to the lake and went fishing.  Now I’m fully aware how dorky I look in this photo, but I just had to share a shot of the fish I caught!

On Saturday we took my mom and grandma to the first Razorback football game of the season against Missouri State.  Nothing says fall like football.

My brother is in the marching band this year, and it was so cool to see him out on the field forming part of the big University of Arkansas “A.”

We even spotted him from our seats!  He’s the trumpet player immediately to the right of the guy in orange below.

We had great seats and got to see some up close and personal touchdowns in the endzone. Final score 51-7, Razorbacks.  Go Hogs!

On Sunday I got out a paintbrush and continued the neverending trim painting in our hallway.  One of these days it’ll be done, right?

I’d say we definitely made full use of our Labor Day yesterday.  Stephen and I woke up early and headed out to the lake with our friends.  We brought the canoe and our fishing poles and played with Molly and her friend Dexter until they were worn out.  The temperature was in the 70s, but the water was warmer than the air so we even got to do some swimming!

Labor Day is the unofficial start of fall in my book, and this fall has already started off with a bang.  Yesterday morning I got a text that our friends Jon and Mindi just had their first baby – a girl named Emma Grace born at 8 am on Labor Day.  Isn’t she adorable? I can’t wait to meet her!

How did you spend your weekend?
