Better Homes and Gardens Inspiration

Have you seen the new issue of Better Homes and Gardens yet?  I’m not going to give away all the good stuff, but this issue has to be one of my favorites!  I started getting the magazine about a year ago when Amazon was running a crazy deal – I think it was something like $1 (or maybe $10?) for a FOUR YEAR subscription.  Whatever the deal was, I’m glad I signed up!

This is one of my favorite shots from the July issue. I turned to this sweet photo of Debbie Canada and her pup in her home in Newport Beach, CA, and was immediately reminded of my mother-in-law!  This is very much how I’d picture her “beach cottage” to look if she had one.

The issue is full of fun and easy summer projects, including these creative uses for paint chips.  Can you believe the 4th is just around the corner?

A couple other projects I’m itching to try include painting the back of a bookcase a fun color (I’ve been meaning to do this for a year) and sewing this DIY pouf!  Full instructions can be found online at BHG.com.

Last but not least, probably my very favorite image from the issue, this room just felt like home to me.  I even mentioned to Stephen how much I loved the dresser pictured below.

Modern Bedroom

His response?  “You already have one just like it!”

Come to think of it, I saw a lot of similarities between this room and items in our home. Let’s take a closer look, shall we?

It’s no wonder I was such a huge fan of BHG’s latest issue!  Now before I give away any of the other fun stuff, I’ll let you all have a chance to read it yourselves.

Happy Friday everybody!  Any DIY projects on the top of your list this weekend?  Check back Monday to see what’s on ours, and thanks for reading. 🙂

  1. I love that first image. I’m especially drawn to the bamboo shades. Mine will have to be exterior mounted, so I’m happy to see that.

And, I totally wanna make that pouf. Soo cool!

Every time I see a picture of your stenciled closet I let out a jealous sigh, lol. Love it so much!!

I loved the color of that wicker chair. Wondering if I could replicate that look….

  4. Ooh, I would LOVE to make a pouf!

Looove those design ideas. Our office is still very much under construction but when it is finally finished, I’m thinking expedit book shelves on a low wall with coral (chevron maybe?) patterns in the background.

  6. Comeca Jones says:

Im all about the texture as well I may be adding bamboo soon.

I got a gift subscription to DIY magazine, and just got my first issue this month! Fun stuff. I’m attempting to make a chalkboard this weekend, but so far, all I have is a cut on my pinky from removing the glass from the frame I’m going to use. Well, that, and a piece of fiber board that’s an inch too small for my frame. So far, it’s slow going. 🙂

love all the visuals in the magazine and from your house! i went to world market to order the yellow towels that you have in your master bath and it looks like they do not have them anymore. sad. i didn’t need them right away since we are moving soon but would love them in a new bathroom , that happens all the time. they do have plain yellow but i loved the print!
