I was so happy when I opened my email yesterday and saw these before and after photos from my friend Cara. (Y’all got to meet her in this post, and recently I showed you how we updated the master bedroom at her new house one evening.)
If you were paying attention to the before and after shots of our kitchen yesterday, you may have wondered what we did with our old black bar stools (photo below) once we replaced them with our Craigslist chairs. The answer? Give them to our friend Cara, who was moving from a 1 bedroom apartment to a 4 bedroom house, of course!
These bar stools had been in the Heard family for six years before being passed on to Cara. We got a lot of use out of them, but they were still solid as a rock when we passed them on to her. The paint finish had seen better days, though, so she decided to give them a fresh look.
Cara has lots of red and black accessories in her new kitchen, so instead of just sprucing up the bar stools with more black paint, she decided to go bold. After one coat of dark red primer and a couple coats of glossy red spray paint (Berry by Valspar), here’s how they turned out!
Here’s a glimpse of where these bar stools will be going. We took this picture of her new kitchen the day she moved in to her first home.
What do you think of the makeover? Are you a fan of her rockin’ red bar stools? I am constantly amazed at what around $10 in paint can do to completely update a piece of furniture! Great job Cara!
P.S. If you have a before and after you’d like to share with Welcome to Heardmont readers, email me your photos at meredithheard (at) gmail (dot) com. I’d love to see what you’ve been up to!
