A Target Birthday

For the past 5 days, I’ve had a Target gift card burning a hole in my pocket, courtesy of our friends the Scaifes.  Today at lunch I decided it was high time to do something about that.  Target is just one of those places I can walk around for days.  Their home decor section is ever-changing and always fun, and I even have fun looking at their appliances, cleaning products, and (of course) clothes from time to time! It’s a dangerous thing when I go shopping at lunch with no purpose in mind, but today it worked out in an awesome way.

I started out in the bedding section and found a few coverlets that caught my eye.  We’re planning a semi-major bedroom re-do at Heardmont, and while I’m not giving away any sneak peeks, I have been on the lookout for accents to go with white and light blues.  A few of the potential winners (though I’m not handing over the debit card just yet)…

Nothing just jumped into my cart over in bedding, so next it was on to the furniture section.  Stephen has been hankering to do something about his man room for weeks now.  We’ve talked about layout and flooring and even furniture, and most recently I’ve been on the lookout for an end table with a drawer to sit on one side of his couch.  These looked promising.

Remember that baby shower I helped to host a few weeks ago?  The lovely ladies of the 4th floor had let us use their combination cake stand/ punch bowl to serve our delicious orange sherbet punch.  I don’t think I’d ever seen a cake stand that could be flipped into a punch bowl before, but I thought that was the coolest thing ever!

Like I said, I didn’t have anything in mind when I stepped foot in the store, but once I made it down the servingware aisle and saw the exact same cake stand as we’d used, along with another more modern-looking one, I was sold!  I chose the clean-lined stand that had not one, not two or three, but four or more uses and was pretty classy-looking to boot!

Are you drooling yet?!

I am super excited to use my newest entertaining piece.  I have a feeling the “chips and dip” option will be a popular one this football season!  Thanks so much Nolen and Brittany for the awesome gift.  Now I just need some party food recipes so I can put this puppy to work!
